The locket opens to reveal two areas to place two pictures. This piece has a number of hallmarks on the back indicating the piece is 9ct rose gold on the front and the back. It is not gold on the inside. The locket is solid 9ct gold on the front and the back of the locket. Lockets were made with brass interiors and hinges for strength
