1950s Accolay Ceramic Vase (13.5in/34cm)

1950s Accolay Ceramic Vase (13.5in/34cm)This ceramic vase captures the optimism that washed over mid century design. Its an example of Accolay pottery, which is named after the French village where a large community of ceramicists settled between the 1940s and 1980s. Unusual shapes and textures made each piece special, as can be seen in this hand thrown piece. Rumour has it that the glazes were created to mimic the colours of the Cte d'Azur coastline.
