Terroir Limit, Priorat ManyesFunnily enough, Dominik Huber has only one varietal Garnacha wine, and it's a top one. The vineyard is in Torroja where the soils are slate and for Dominik slate works better with Cariena, so he sources the Garnacha from elsewhere. The prodigious 2012 Les Manyes is an unusual single vineyard Garnacha from a 50 year old plot over the Montsant Mountains, in the Masdeu zone above the Scala Dei Monastery (not in Torroja at all!), where the soils are not
but in 2000 the fruit has enough intensity to nearly cover the tannins

the wines are more fresh
I feel that it has decayed a little since my last note in 2010
wild fennel flowers and saffron on the nose
as the next vintage that is scheduled for release
spicy finish is still a touch dry

Finishes impressively long and bright
Superb definition towards the finish and great length
Finishes with chalky tannins and a continuing element of greenness
