Heresztyn Mazzini, Gevrey Chambertin Jouises Vv

Heresztyn Mazzini, Gevrey Chambertin Jouises Vv(this is actually a blend of Le Fourneau and Jouise that most people would not know isnt exclusively from Jouise given the very close similarity of the names). Here the more expressive nose is compositionally similar to that of the Les Songes though it is perhaps slightly more elegant. This too is admirably dense with good detail and minerality to the focused medium bodied flavors that deliver fine power and punch on the balanced and lengthy finish

licorice and blackberry jam hit the palate in a massive

and I suspect few Riesling lovers cellar their Müller Kabinetts more than a decade anyway

This has the legs to age well over the medium to even longer-term but should drink reasonably well young if desired

is illuminating

Drink it over the next decade

dusty and balanced finish that displays sneaky length

Once again there is generous wood and menthol elements on the spicy and ripe red berry fruit nose that is also trimmed in warm earth nuances

but I believe that what he calls “fluke” is really intuition

The palate is perhaps showing its age a bit more with ferrous red fruit

One of the highlights in this range

Still a note of purple

Balsam and warmth with great balance of fully ripe fruit and impressive subtlety
