BOEKENHOUTSKLOOF Syrah 2016 (750ml)Tasting notes: The complex nose offers a brooding compote of dark berry fruit, black olives, perfume and spice. The blackberries, youngberries, brambles and violets of the nose follow through onto a full, round palate with intense notes of allspice, liquorice and black pepper. The mid palate is concentrated and focused, yet austere and lithe at the same time. The wine is savoury, almost Rhne like in style with integrated acidity and firm, fine grained

but shows tension and focus

medium bodied

and spices after maturing in oak barrels

The wine is amply structured

finishing with a firm and fine tannicity

spicy Chenin with bramley apple and fresh pear fruit and a backbone of crunchy acidity

it was matured for nine months in French oak barrels (partly new)

with lemony zing lifting the ripe orchard fruit and sweet spice flavors

The ripe stone fruit character adds to the complexity on the palate and the spicy finish with hints of fenugreek

with soft oak providing weight and generosity to the underlying Sauvignon characters

Strawberries and raspberries shine on the nose

This excellent blend of cabernet and shiraz from the 2016 vintage is only just
