Bamboo Trays

Bamboo TraysUnusual, large bent bamboo trays, each with finely painted lacquer floral designs. The reverse of each tray has the artists seal. Original tomobako storage box included.

I can’t say for certain if the lines on the face of the rock are naturally occurring or were manually worked

hariko were made in wealthy cities such as Kyoto and Osaka

and brush-wipes intentionally composed to show the optical depth and gloss of lacquer

the robe has the feel of a true textile collage

and pronounced creasing

The base itself is as elaborately crafted as Bishamonten himself and is constructed using wooden nails

or ivory inro

The amount of wear reflects their continuous and reliable use

seams and hems are neatly hand-stitched
