Bass are my favourite fish to print the definition you get on the scales is wonderful. Here, I've taken a print from each side of the bass head. Printed on Chinese mulberry paper measuring approx 30x30cm.

No two prints are ever the same in Gyotaku as the specimen is re inked before each print is taken

Printing requires pushing the paper into the groves and it's difficult to achieve a great print

So that means this is actually 15 separate prints

Please note that for the purpose of photograph I have put it under a mount and it is not mounted properly so will lie flatter in a frame when done professionally

I have used premium quality acrylic ink that is both light fast and pemanent

This was my first time printing wrasse

I love feathers for their connection to nature

To achieve a flat print I use the traditional wet mounting process that has been used in the east for centuries
